Robinia / acacia posts

Durable Robinia Posts for Gardens and Landscaping

Our robinia posts are made from Robinia pseudoacacia, a European timber species renowned for its exceptional natural durability. Robinia is also commonly referred to as “acacia” in the timber trade.

Robinia heartwood is classified as durability class 1–2, making it particularly suitable for applications where timber is exposed to weather conditions or in direct contact with the ground.

Thanks to its natural durability, our robinia posts require no chemical treatment. This makes robinia an excellent European alternative to various tropical hardwoods.

Naturally Highly Durable

Robinia is one of the most durable European timber species. The wood is hard, strong and naturally resistant to fungal decay.

This combination makes robinia particularly suitable for fencing, playground structures, landscaping projects and many other outdoor applications where a long service life is essential.

The actual lifespan depends on factors such as soil conditions, moisture levels, diameter and installation conditions.

Naturae Tip

Robinia is an exceptionally hard timber. We therefore recommend pre-drilling holes for screws and other fixings.

This makes installation easier and reduces the risk of damaging the timber or fixings.

Features of Our Robinia Posts

Naturae robinia posts are mechanically debarked, pointed and supplied untreated.

Robinia naturally has a more irregular growth pattern than chestnut. As we largely retain the natural shape of the tree, the posts may have curves and variations in shape and diameter. This distinctive character gives robinia its natural appearance and allows the posts to blend beautifully into gardens and landscapes.

When exposed to the elements, the timber naturally develops a grey patina over time. This makes robinia particularly attractive when combined with other natural timber species such as oak and chestnut.

For projects where an even more pronounced natural appearance is desired, posts with greater natural variations and curves are also available on request.
