Our chestnut posts are made from sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa). Chestnut is a naturally durable timber species, making it particularly suitable for outdoor applications.

Thanks to the natural properties of the timber, chestnut posts can be used without chemical treatment. They provide a strong, durable and natural solution for fencing and many other garden and landscaping applications.

Naturally Durable

Chestnut timber is naturally resistant to moisture and fungal decay and requires no chemical treatment for many outdoor applications.

Chestnut heartwood is classified as durability class 2 and is known for its long service life. The actual lifespan of a chestnut post depends on factors such as soil conditions, moisture levels, diameter and installation conditions.

Our chestnut timber comes from responsibly managed European forests, making it a natural alternative to chemically treated softwood and various tropical hardwoods.

Features of Our Chestnut Posts

Naturae chestnut posts are mechanically debarked, pointed and supplied untreated.

As chestnut is a natural material and the original shape of the tree is largely retained, the posts may have slight curves and variations in shape. This natural character makes each post unique and allows it to blend beautifully into gardens and landscapes.

Over time, chestnut timber naturally develops an attractive silver-grey patina. This characteristic colour combines particularly well with other natural timber species such as oak and robinia.

• Diameter 6–8 cm: 1.50 m – 1.60 m (round and split) – 1.80 m – 2.00 m – 2.50 m
• Diameter 8–10 cm: 1.80 m – 2.00 m – 2.50 m
• Diameter 10–12 cm: 1.80 m – 2.00 m – 2.50 m – 3.00 m
• Diameter 12–14 cm: 1.80 m – 2.00 m – 2.50 m – 3.00 m
• Diameter 15–17 cm: 2.00 m – 2.50 m
